I am loving the series of haunting underwater images from North Carolina based photographer, Neil Craver. I happened on them a few days ago and can’t get them out of my head. What’s more, I can’t really put my finger on why they are so compelling, but they are. Some are sexy, some are disturbing, but all of them evoke some sort of emotional response. “This project is meant to be consumed with your emotions, and not simply perceived,” Craver says. “I wanted a ‘subliminal composition’ to create an under tow of messages to stress the strong influences of unconscious elements affecting and driving people’s lives.” Craver is nearing the end of the 3 year series, after which he’ll start looking for a publisher, saying “I find it really needs to be in a book to project the scale of this series.”
